Revisiting an old journal














This page is from the winter of 1991-92. I was into close details then. I can still work this way, as I find nature's details fascinating, but I have also learnt to loosen up a bit. Close rendition is not always the best thing to try to achieve.
Looking at this piece, I like how I took the time to observe and report. My work was more meditative, as I was not in a rush. A good reminder for me: drawing, making art, makes you forget everyday's list of things to do, the chatter in your mind, the thinking ahead, it makes you be still and in the very present moment. That's why it's so vital to me now.
